ECX brings new visibility and funding mechanisms to cyclone recovery & climate adaptation

The East Coast Exchange, launched in the wake of Cyclone Gabrielle using Toha’s infrastructure, is providing a public record of verified community action and a mechanism to provide direct funding to those doing the work.

ECX project lead Renee Raroa and product manager Izzi Morris spoke with Kate Green from Radio New Zealand about the platforms origins and vision as Tairāwhiti and Hawke’s Bay communities recover, building resilience for future events and look toward regenerating the whenua.

ECX’s Impact Map showing cyclone-recovery action across Tairāwhiti and Hawke’s Bay can be overlayed with public datasets like analysis of cyclone silt deposits as seen here.
